A Thousand Words
LPs & Cassettes To MP3s & CDs Easy to Use Interface Mixer for just $69.90 and Turntable and Interface Mixer $219- It's true. A picture really can be worth a thousand words. And it's especially true with technology. As you look below, I hope that you'll see the parts, angles and buttons clearly so that you'll have a 100% clear understanding of just what this product can do for you. Products don't get reviewed unless I think they're good. I hope my pictures help you determine if you agree or not. . . Drew
OK, our Interface Mixer is really a bit of overkill. (All the knobs and sliders) But, you want really great quality sound, for your LPs, 45s and cassette copies to CDs. And, a stripped down Interface wouldn't be well made. And ours is. So there's much more than you need here, so read on to see how easy it is.

What's really important is that this mixer is flat from 20-20,000hz and has a Signal to Noise Radio of -80db. The internal Phono Preamp strictly reproduces the RIAA frequency curve so you'll have flawless copies of all your LPs Especially now with the new Free Added Click, Pop & Hiss Assassin.

Don't be intimidated by all the sliders and switches.
Here's all you do.
(Arrow 1) Slide The Fader to the left.
(Arrow 2) Select EITHER YOUR Turntable or Cassette Deck
(Arrow 3) Set your input volume.

THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO DO.

Want to know what else you can do? Read on for the full story.

Here's the front of the PC Mixer Interface. Look at all you can do.

1)
Below the volume sliders is the Fader, so you can mix between two devices. Most of the time when you're copying LPs or Cassettes, just slide it to the left because you'll only have 1 input. But this is a professional Mixer so you do have options.

2)
Select whether you want to feed in a turntable or a cassette or tape deck. The Mixer will properly equalize either signal. Plus to the right is another Line/Phono Switch so you can add a 2nd turntable and or cassette deck.

3/4) Here are the two input slider volume controls so you can adjust the volume of any of your 4 inputs.

5) You can plug in a microphone and add commentary, descriptions and more. Plus you can control the input volume of the mix.

6) What's PFL? Well when you're using this Mixer to play two sources, you can preview the one that's not feeding to the output through the headset. So, if you're mixing an LP and a Cassette live, you can cue up the Cassette while the Turntable finishes a track.

7) Of course you want to be able to adjust the monitor volume you hear through the headset without affecting the output volume that you're sending to your PC. 8) You have twin LED VU Meters so you can adjust the volume and see what you're sending to your computer.

Finally, the Mixer is your Hum Free Interface to your computer with its External AC Power Supply so that the Mixer is 100% Ground Loop Transformed (no hum) and Powered. You'll love having your LPs and cassettes copied to CDs so you can protect them and enjoy them anywhere you are.

Here's The Back Of Your Interface. Just Plug In The Cables And Start Copying.
Just plug in the INCLUDED 12 V Ground Loop Transformed adapter. Important. Because there is ONLY 12V Ground Loop Transformed supplied to the Mixer (from the included power supply), you have a perfect Hum Buffer so your recordings will be hum free. THERE'S NOTHING FOR YOU TO DO IT'S HUM FREE AUTOMATICALLY.

Note: We don't just block or filter the hum. That could cause frequency loss. We prevent it from ever occurring in the first place so you'll get 100% perfect fidelity every time from now on.

Here's the Easy Part. Just connect either your turntable or cassette deck to the Left and Right Jacks (1) and you're on your way. Oh, and if you have a 2nd turntable or cassette deck, just connect it to the jacks at (3).

Top mounted switches let you switch between 2 turntables or 2 line level cassette decks or any combination.

Then just connect our INCLUDED cable from the 'amp' outputs (2 above) to the 'line-in' on your sound card and your done. Or as the movies say, you've just begun to enjoy.

Worried about plugging it in?

You DON'T have to open your computer or do anything complicated.

Just look at the back of your computer. You'll see right where your computer speakers are plugged in right now that you have 3 jacks. The green one is for your speakers, the pink on is for a microphone. And the Blue Jack is where you plug in the Interface mixer. That's all there is to it. You'll be up and running in just a few minutes. And it's no harder than it was to plug in your computer speakers.

You Can even Adjust The Speed to Set Pitch Or Correct Old Records
Do you sing? Well if you do you know that setting the pitch to match your voice is critical to using LPs created for someone else. Plus, many LPs and 45s just aren't right. So this is one control you'll find that you use all the time. It really let's you adjust your music to suit your own personal taste. Plus as you cue up one record and try to beat match it to another, you can't do it without perfect pitch control.

See & SET Wow Free Perfect Speed for Flawless Copies To CD
Here I've blown up the strobe on the side of the platter. If the dots move, you're not at 33-1/3 or 45. If they don't move you are. Now that you have a benchmark, you can adjust the speed to suit the pitch that you like. It's powerful control of the way you'll listen to your music from now on.

But know that nothing was left off of this professional DJ turntable that can aid you in getting the most from your treasured record collection and making the most flawless recordings possible.

Just 9" Wide. Set The Volume, Choose From Your Turntable Or Cassette Deck Or Mix The two Together.
Proper electronic impedance connections to your computer (or a PA system if your a DJ) are crucial for even decent sound, let alone audiophile requirements.

First there's proper level. Just turn up the level all the way and wait till you hear the distortion if you over record. Then there's the problem with magnetic cartridges. They have a very low mV at 50K ohm while your sound card needs 150mV at 600 ohms.

You also need RIAA equalization to play back LPs and more. This mixer does it all.

You'll have linear volume controls for the line and phono inputs, rotary volume for the mike and headphones and a linear slider for the fader.

It's a tiny 9" x 5" x 2" on your desk. But the great sounding digital recordings you'll get come from its 20-20,000hz and -80db signal to noise circuitry.

Finally, you'll find that the hum you've come to dread when connecting sound equipment to your computer will thankfully be a thing of the past. The Interface Mixer is a powerful gateway from your LPs and Cassettes to your computer. Now you can easily record perfect sound every time.

DAK's
Scratch, Click Pop & Hiss Filter $18 Value, Now Included.

Here's the option screen of the Scratch, Click, Pop And Hiss Filter. The neat thing about this one it's totally automatic. Just click what you want to do and it does it. If you do choose to click any of the setup buttons, a screen for each will pop up that lets you configure the restoration filter any way you want.

Important Note: You don't have to restore 1 track at a time. Load 100 tracks and let them be restored to new sound splendor while you do something else. This is a massive time saver. But what's most important is just how great the tracks really do sound after they are restored.

What do you want to do to restore your LPs, 45s and cassettes? Here I explain why you might want to use each audio restoration option.

  1. Minimize Big Clicks- This is for scratches and major clicks. You can probably see on the record itself the scratches, and clicks you want to remove.
  2. Minimize Small Pops- Here you can eliminate the small clicks and pops that you probably have hundreds of on each LP. This is very different than big clicks and is probably the most important part of restoration. It's the almost continuous clicks and pops that really tend to drive me crazy and I'll bet the bug the #%*#% out of you too.
  3. Filter Frequencies- Remove low frequencies (typically rumble and pulley noise) or high frequencies (typically noise from older vinyl records) from your LPs.
  4. Minimize Hiss- Get tape hiss and other continuous noises. It's called a "noise floor" the hiss you hear in areas of the sound that should be silent. It's great because it obliterates the hiss without hurting the music.
  5. Normalize Frequency- Make all your tracks have the same bass and treble balance. Different tracks from different LPs or tapes can large tone differences, which can be very distracting. Now you can eliminate them.
  6. Normalize Volume- This Feature is important. If you copy tracks from different LPs and put them on a single CD, sometimes the volume will be different from track to track. This Audio Restoration tool will analyze then normalize all the tracks so you won't be fiddling with your volume control as you listen to your CDs in the car.

Oh, yes. Don't forget Preview- You can preview the before and after so you'll know just what an awesome improvement you are making.

And one more very important point. It creates a NEW file like yoursong_NEW.wav for each track that you restore. You don't want to lose your originals.

Check out my product review if you want more in-depth detailed info. This section is just to show you what to look for when you get your own Click & Pop Filter. Click to visit my in-depth Click & Pop Filter Review.

Want to see what a click, pop and a scratch look like? Chances are you already know what they sound like.

What does a click or pop actually look like? Most times you really don't need to know because the new automated programs do everything for you. In fact, the DAK program doesn't even show graphs because it does it all for you automatically. But here I've used the editor that came with my Sound Blaster Sound card to show you just what clicks and pops really do look like.
Hear Before & After

Your Included Click, Scratch & Hiss filter looks at each component of your music and removes ONLY unwanted nonmusical clicks, pops and scratches. You can see in the picture above, that the clicks look like straight lines.

Music has a more angled attack. What you can't see and what's most important are the clicks and pops that stay within the sound wave that a click and pop filter removes. It's amazing how well these filters remove the annoying to terrible clicks and pops that really can ruin our music. The Demo above is actually take from the track you see. It's from the Limeliters Folk Group. They are my favorite folk music group and we see them as often as we can. Check out www.limeliters.com if you're into folk music.

Get The Hiss Out For Great Digital Sound

Hiss is the curse of cassettes. You can't see it but it's there in the music and whenever there's a soft passage or pause, the hiss rears its ugly head and ruins your musical atmosphere. Now, as you can see in my graphical example above, when you engage the new included Hiss Filter it identifies a noise floor and knocks the hiss down, way down without running your music. It's fully automated, just click start and you'll enjoy your music like never before.

New This is the $24.95 included recording program you get.
Automated Set & Forget Timed Record.

This is big. It's groundbreaking. It's going to take the hassle out of recording. We've just added a Set and Forget Timer to the New Wave Editor Pro. Why do you need it?

Now you don't have to baby-sit your recordings. Most LPs are about 20 minutes per side. Cassettes are 30, 45 or 60 minutes per side.

Just choose a time a few minutes longer than the side of your record or cassette. Click Timed Start, then start your LP or tape and go do something else.

You no longer have to keep an eye on when your recording will be finished. Now you can simply come back any time. Save your file. Separate your tracks. Edit out talking. Or, do whatever you want to do with your music.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike using a cassette deck you don't have to sync the start of the recorder with the needle drop or cassette start. Just leisurely start the recorder and then start your turntable or cassette deck. Same when you're done. Don't go flying across the room to stop the recorder.

Why NOT? Well when you use my Track Tracker to separate your tracks, it AUTOMATICALLY discards all the blank at the beginning and end of your recording. Welcome to 21st century digital recording.

Now you can concentrate on your music, not the act of recording. it's all automated for you.

I've never seen a Length Timer incorporated into a Wave Editor before. This is a revolutionary improvement that will really free you to record while you do other things.

It truly is a mega-time saver for all of us. Now you can convert all your Records, Tapes and Internet Radio easily and effortlessly.

Track Tracker Program.
The Track Tracker is your first time every time Exclusive DAK wonder for automatically separating your tracks. You could spend an hour doing this manually. You'll spend about 2 minutes doing it with the Track Tracker.

Arrow 1. Just open the Tools Menu (where you'll find 8 special programs) and select Track Tracker.

Arrows 2. (Bottom Inset) You can see I have 7 tracks here. You can put the marker in here, or you can zoom in and see the individual tracks big as day.

Arrow 3. Here I've zoomed in and you can see the MAMMOTH Track opening. Just click the marker and the Track Tracker does the rest. You only zoom in once and do them all. It's fast. It's easy. And in about 2 minutes your tracks will be NAMED & NUMBERED for you automatically.

Oh, and It's the same for copying cassettes, tracks you've recorded from the Internet or anything you record with the Wave Editor.

We've thought of and included everything to make this really easy.

Here Are Your Tracks - NAMED & NUMBERED AUTOMATICALLY
OK, this is hot. Look at the tracks above. Each of your tracks is named so you know what it is or where it came from or both. Then it's numbered sequentially so you can pick and choose the tracks you want. And they've all been put in the folder of your choice.

Note: The actual Icons will look like whatever your default music player is on your computer. And you can play them with that, open them in the Wave Editor, save them as MP3 files or burn them to CDs. That's it. Using the Track Tracker couldn't be easier.

DAK's NEW
PLAYLIST MANAGER & CD RIPPER 10+ AUDIO TOOLS
PRESERVE TRACK ORDER WONDER

The problem. Windows sorts all the tracks on your computer, in your MP3 player and when your burn CDs alphabetically.
That's not the order you want for your musicals, symphonies or any of your tracks to be in. For a musical, you want the overture as the first track.
For a symphony, you want the first movement. And for your favorite, folk, jazz or rock songs, you want your tracks in the order they were in on the CDs, LPs or cassettes.

Till now, this was an unfixable Windows problem. Now, when you EITHER rip a CD or open a group of files from your hard disk, the Preserve Track Tool will assign a number prefix in front of the track name so that even when Windows sorts it, your track will stay in perfect order.
It looks like this:

01My Track Name
02My Track Name.

But that's not all. If you have tracks from different albums you can tell the Preserve Track Tool to assign a common Prefix so all the tracks stay not only in track order, but with the album they belong too like this:

FirstAlbum 01Track Name
FirstAlbum 02Track Name
SecondAlbum 01Track Name
SecondAlbum 02Track Name

DAK puts your tracks in perfect order and keeps them there in your computer, when you copy your tracks to MP3 players and when you burn CDs. This is a major new breakthrough in Digital music enjoyment.

See The Playlist Manager Movie right on your web page. Click Here.

PRESERVE TRACK ORDER IN ACTION
Here's a real life EXAMPLE you can do it yourself of Windows Sorting that ruins your enjoyment of the music. I took my copy of Phantom Of The Opera and Ripped it to my computer. What you see on the left is the actual ripped results that I got and you would get too. As you can see the Overture came out as track 7.
IT'S THE SAME WHEN YOU COPY LPs, CASSETTES or anything onto your computer. Windows by default will put it in alphabetical order AND THERE'S NO SOLUTION that I've found till now.
On the right, you'll see DAK's Preserved Track Order in Action. It adds a small numerical prefix in front of the name that tricks windows into keeping your tracks in the exact order that you want them.
It's simple. It's fast and you can have it added EITHER when you rip CDs, or use the Playlist Manager to PERMANENTLY CREATE TRACK ORDER that will never change. It's a whole new world of finally having your music stay in the order it's supposed to be in from now on. Plus below you'll see how easy it is to add a prefix that will also keep all tracks from an artist or album together and still in track order too.

PRESERVE TRACK ORDER IN ACTION- WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
Here's how it really looks. When you use either the Ripper or the Playlist Manager.

Arrow 1 Just choose MP3 or Wave

Arrow 2 can be your PREFIX. In this case I am using the Album Name as my prefix. This is my favorite folk group, the Limeliters and this is their album Harmony.
Arrow 3 shows you the DAK TRACK PRESERVING number. This is track 14 and it will always be track 14 of this album. Windows can never change it. And it won't be confused with track 14 of some other album because of the Harmony Prefix.
Finally, Arrow 4 is the Actual Track Name. This is what you really care about and now it's in the order it's supposed to be in. Now you'll listen to your music just as it was supposed to be listened to. It's all up to you. And now, it's all easy.

PRINT TRACKS PLAYLISTS INSTANTLY
This is big. Sure using your burner software you can often print a track list when you burn a CD. But there's been almost no way to print a track list for the tracks you keep on your computer or load into an MP3 player.
And, with several hundred tracks going into an MP3 player these days, how will you ever know what you have?
Now just load the tracks in the Playlist Manager. There's nothing special to do. If the tracks are on your computer, you can load any MP3s and Wav files.
Anyway Click Print and you'll instantly have the entire list in Window's Notepad. Then just click Notepad Print for a printed list, or save the file and you can import the text file into any fancy label printing program you might have. Any good one does have import.
You'll really appreciate the printed tracks. I carry the printed track lists in my car for my 12-disc changer and in my brief case for my MP3 player.

Plus it's great to have on my computer so I can instantly search it to see where a particular song is located. This is a great tool.

NAME AND RENAME YOUR TRACKS
Everyone has been asking for this. When you create a bunch of tracks, how do you easily rename the tracks without going through the tiresome Windows Rename process. Well, I've made it super easy.
First. When you are ripping, just click on the track number or name and type over whatever is there. You can type over it whether it's just a track number or even when the program has found the track name for you automatically.
Second OK, so you've got a bunch of tracks on your hard drive and you want to rename them. Just load them in the Playlist Manager. Then highlight any track, click on Rename and type away into the box. It's just that easy.
Plus, you can play any to be sure it's the track you want to rename. It's quick. It's easy and now you can easily name and rename any .WAV or MP3 track on your computer.

NOTE: Above I've added onto the name. But you can rename, add on or do anything you want. Every character is yours to command.

NEW with PRO V3.4 is DAK's new:
Song Stalker Internet Recorder
Silence Seeking Program
This is the Holy Grail of recording. Get separated tracks as you actually record. And the Song Stalker is the best of the best I've seen. As you record and as the Song Stalker sees the silence between tracks, it automatically closes each track it's recording and begins a new track.

Plus the Song Stalker will automatically save your tracks in the folder of your choice and not only does the Song Stalker automatically number the tracks for you, but it lets you assign a prefix name so you'll easily and effortlessly know what you've recorded and where it is. It's actually a separate program that's now built into new DAK Wave & MP3 Editor/Recorder Pro.
The Song Stalker continuously monitors the Noise Floor of your music and looks for the silence that connotes a track separation. When it finds the silence,

It creates a New Track.
It Names Your Track With a Prefix
And It Numbers your track for you.

It's like a robot that essentially presses a virtual stop button, names and numbers the track, clears the screen and starts recording a new track. Wow, it does a lot. And it does it all without you.

It's very sophisticated. But in short it looks for silence. It uses very sophisticated algorithms to determine what silence really is. And it does a really good job.

It often reaches a totally automatic success rate of 7 or 8 tracks out of 10. But have no fear. You can separate the few remaining tracks using the Wave Editor itself or the all new Track Tracker technology that's just been added to the DAK Wave & MP3 Editor/Recorder Pro.

Using the Song Stalker is super easy and super fast. And the recordings will be flawless digital copies of whatever you want to copy.

Here's a link to the Song Stalker Tutorial

DAK PLAYLIST CD AUDIO WRITER PROGRAM
Your computer came with CD burner software. And it probably works fine. But, it's probably a general purpose program that does lots of things other than just burn flawless digital audio CD copies of your music.
Because it's made to do so many things, it's often hard to find the controls you need to actually burn audio CDs. You need to be sure to Finalize/Close your CDs and to lower the burn speed to one half if you are burning for older car, home and portable CD players.
Both of these controls are mounted right up front for easy use, and we've even checked the finalize CD box for you.
Plus, very few burner programs allow you to load the M3U Playlists for burning your programs in the order you've set up. And, ours keeps the Preserve Track Order you selected when you ripped your CDs or used Preserve Track Order in the Playlist manager.
So add a track, a folder of Tracks or a Playlist. Move any track within the list anywhere you want. Remove any track, even from a Playlist. And combine Wave and MP3 files to burn your CDs. It's the easiest CD Burner software ever, because it does all the heavy lifting for you.
And it's fully integrated into the Playlist Manager/Ripper when you order this option. Finally it won't bother your current burner software. You can still use it to burn data and MP3 CDs. The New DAK Playlist Burner is just a small cost upgrade to the program.

EASY-SET FINALIZE & BURN SPEED
I just wanted you to see only two things you need to deal with. Here I've prechecked the Finalize/Close CD for you so you don't have to worry about it. Remember if you don't do it you can't play your CDs on normal car, home and portable CD players.
And here's the pull down box for setting your burn speed. Why do you care? Many home and car CD players won't play the CDs you make unless you burn at about 1/2 the max speed of your burner.
In this case I'd use 24X and everything would be fine. Not all burners support variable speed burning, but if they do, this is the only place you need to look.

BIG DEAL- I SAVED IT FOR LAST - DIRECT OPEN CD AUDIO (cda) FILES.
OK, this is hot. Up till now you needed to get a CD Ripper to transfer music tracks from your CDs to your computer so you could copy them or edit them.

It's been a bit of a headache but, Wave Editors don't come with CDA opening capability. Now the new DAK Wave & MP3 Editor/Recorder PRO v3.4 does.

Just navigate to your CD drive as I've done above and choose CDA from the drop down box where I put my BIG DEAL arrow and you can now open CDA audio files instantly and effortlessly. This is the same box that you use to choose Wave & MP3 Files. So, now it's just as easy to open CDA files as Wave & MP3 Files.

This is a big, big extra.

A Quick NOTE About My Pictures.
Some of the pictures aren't as sharp as I'd put in the print catalog. You see I have to cut back their files sizes or this page would never load (especially if you're on a dial up modem).
The technical side is that I'm shooting JPEGs at 80-100 percent quality and I cut them back to 50-60% and pretty much limit them to 600 pixels in width or less so that they'll fit on your monitor and load reasonably fast. In short, each picture is about 450,000 bytes when I shoot it and 20-40,000 bytes here on the page. A picture for the catalog is about 6,000,000 bytes.
I've created this page using separate tables for each picture so that you don't have to wait for everything to load in order to start looking. The picture captions will display first and then the pictures (usually starting at the top, but not always due to the way your computer interprets the web).
BUT HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE. I don't feel you can really know about a product unless the pictures are big and clear enough for you to really see (almost touch). Then you'll know what you're getting. So in my print catalogs the pictures can be sharper, but on the web I can show you a lot more angles, sides and parts of each product. I hope this helps.
If I ever forget to show you some part of the product that you want to see, eMail me at DrewKaplan@DAK.com and I'll do my best to add it to the page quickly.
